Our Mission

The Algonquian Indians of North Carolina, Inc. is a private non-private corporation designed to preserve the history and culture of the Roanoke and Hatteras Indians of Dare County and the Mattamuskeet Indians of Hyde County and the adjacent sandy islands.
Our Commitment

To ensure the elderly and youth have the best available healthcare.

To develop a Business Development in the community, coordinate resources and conduct family financial planning by providing one-on-one assistance through a series of business development workshops. 

To conduct various lectures, seminars and/or screenings that focus on the following domains:  cultural, education, drug, alcohol and substance abuse, mental health, diabetes, cancer, youth and domestic violence.

To enhance the skills of the underserved population and elderly of the
community by "bridging the gap" through learning to use computers and other technological equipment.

To conduct research to educate not only the Native American people, but also the general public through visual and performing arts, historical and genealogical research.

To improve the social, educational and cultural well-being of the Native Americans living in Dare County.

To preserve and enhance Indian heritage and communicate the story of our journey from ancestral homeland, nature, the creation of cultural arts and contemporary expression, and facilitate the ongoing research, and documentation  and discussion of Native American peoples cultural and history.
